Edge of No Return by ~SonicFan2:iconSonicFan2:

Day in,
Day out
I stand upon the edge

To and fro
Back and forth,
Upon this high cliff edge

Behind me nought but land
Before me a dark abyss

I stand here alone
Neither on nor off the land
Swaying to and fro in the wind's hand

For long have I stood here
Teetering on this edge
Day in and day out
Swaying in the wind

The wind keeps me up
Yet can easily knock me down
But nay, I cannot move
From this acursed edge

The abyss before me is dark and deep
Never could such a hole exist
To fall within that bottomless Hell
Will spell an untimely death

If the wind should blow hard enough
Against my bare back
Mayhap I'll find myself briskly swept
Within a perpetual dark

To teeter on this edge
Such a risk, indeed
But nary is there a thing to do
For my sanity is key

To and fro I rock
Day in and day out
Forever on this edge
Neither on nor off this land

The abyss is frightening,
But its face I do not see
Merely to know its presence
Can make one shake with fear

Day in and day out
I sway within the wind
On the edge of this world
Known to humanity as the mind

This came to me last night while I was trying to sleep.

I remember how most of my late childhood and to this very day I've always been on an edge in my mind. All the years of bullying I was forced to live through made me come a hairs bredth away from going into a complete mental and emotional breakdown.

In a way, this poem symbolizes the feeling of being on that edge, trapped between safe ground and a humongous hole from which there is no return or safety.

I may decide to make a picture for this one, dunno....
